WAI Action Groups

Last week we welcomed our cohort of seasonal field staff to WAI Wānaka. We’re excited to have another amazing bunch of people on the team for the next 8 weeks.

Together with our senior team, they will be undertaking:

EVENTS

WAI Wānaka Enviro Series

Earlier in the month we had our first Enviro Series event – Regulatory Change with Kate Scott of Landpro. This informal morning session was an excellent overview of current and future regulations across freshwater and greenhouse gases and the timeline for the implementation of these changes. See below for our next event.

Aquatic Health with Ash Rabel

Wednesday October 20th
9.30-11am

The second event in our Enviro Series is focusing on Aquatic Health on farms.

Ash Rabel, Science Coordinator at WAI Wānaka, will take this small group workshop aimed at women in agriculture to introduce Aquatic Health Monitoring – why we do it, what it tells us and what we can do ourselves to monitor the health of waterways.

From SHMAK tests to eDNA, Ash will talk through how we can better understand our streams and answer any questions you might have.

You need to register for each event – spaces are limited to 10 people per workshop.

The Wao Summit 2021

26th – 31st October

WAI Wānaka is excited to be part of the Food & Fibre events for this year’s Wao Summit – a six day annual event held in Wānaka. Its aim is to inspire, educate and enable our transition as a community and nation to a healthy, thriving, diverse, carbon zero community.
