OUR PLACE

Our place is your place too!
A group of community-based organisations join forces to create a space for interactive and fun learning for all ages to show how land, water, flora, fauna, climate, and us humans, are all connected.
The first collaborative event took place at the 2021 Wanaka A&P Show under the banner of ‘OUR PLACE‘ and was a great success. The collective would like to thank the show and our many sponsors for their support. We would also like to thank everyone who created, visited and enjoyed our family friendly interactive space for their enthusiasm and energy.
OUR PLACE is supported by several hundred voluntary hours and gifts in-kind from our community. If you would like to help at future events, please email getinvolved@waiwanaka.nz

We asked you – our community – what you valued about our waterways and you told us. You want these beautiful lakes, rivers and ecosystems to be healthy, and you asked for water that is drinkable and safe for recreation. Changes in urban and rural land-use affect water quality. Water is impacted by pollution, pest species, an increase in human activity and climate change.
In the WAI space at the 2021 Wānaka A&P Show you could explore our aquatic ecosystems, learn how water is filtered and meet the tiny creatures that can tell us so much about the health of their habitats.
